Researchers at the School of Medicine are studying whether fasting from food a few days a week provides some of the same health benefits as severely limiting calories every day.

A college savings account in a child’s name not only gives parents hope for the future, but also results in improved social-emotional health for their children, a new study in JAMA Pediatrics finds. The study, led by WUSTL’s Center for Social Development in collaboration with the state of Oklahoma, began in 2007 as an innovative policy experiment to invest in children at birth.

Part of the problem is over-prescription of antibiotics. The winner of this year’s Olin Cup, Nanopore Diagnostics, hopes to change that.

Philip Skemer, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, has won a prestigious Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award from the National Science Foundation. He will use the award for a series of experiments on rock deformation.
